FAQ
What should a participant bring to camp?
Athletic attire, non-carbonated drink, snack, sunscreen, and a positive attitude!
Do you have to pre-register for camp?
No. Our discounts are number sensitive not time sensitive. You can register at the door the morning of the camp, but it is suggested you pre-register so as to avoid long lines the first morning of camp. We offer a pre-registered line and an at the door line when checking in a camper.
Are the facilities air-conditioned?
Yes, some of our facilities are air-conditioned. Also, we are very cognizant of the heat, hydration, etc. of all the campers.
We have very few, if any kids not come to camp because of the heat.
How are the campers put into groups? By age? Ability?
Both! We look at establishing 3-4 leagues based on chronology first. We do an evaluation and place the campers in their appropriate group.
Can friends, teammates play on the same team?
Yes, in fact we encourage it. That is part of the camp experience, having fun with your friends. Teams are also welcomed at Sharp Shooters.
What is a fundamental camp?
A fundamental camp is one that focuses on teaching the skills necessary to become a better basketball player.
Is Sharp Shooters just about teaching skills? Shooting Skills?
No, we have games, contests, as well as stations everyday. We teach sportsmanship, team play, and how to practice on your own with or without a basketball. Each campers leaves with an individual evaluation card and over 50 drills for improving their game.
We do teach our exclusive formula for shooting (BEEF) which Coach Webber utilized when setting his 3PT record for the Guinness Book.
What is the philosophy of the camp?
Our philosophy is to make basketball fun. Every camper should be more excited about basketball on the Thursday of camp than they were on the Monday we started. We teach the four fundamentals of success: Shooting, dribbling, passing and defense. For 20 years we prided ourselves on providing the most motivational and instructional basketball in the area.
What is "OLD SCHOOL WEEK?"
Coach Paul Rodio and I have talked for years about providing a camp in So. Jersey that is about taking your game to the next level. Going back to what basketball has always been about - fundamentals, conditioning, work ethic - and no down-time. Well here it is! Every player receives a notebook each day to promote individual discipline and transfer of learning.
